Welcome to Southwest Florida Baseball…
The mission of Southwest Florida Baseball – SWFL – is to provide high school players with a quality baseball experience and an opportunity to be seen by college coaches and professional scouts. We want to develop the players on the field and assist them in becoming young men off the field. John Cedarburg, Dave Fore and Bill Skarbek are the original founders of SWFL baseball and have set it up as a not for profit organization. Our board members are Dave Fore, Glen Carnes, Chip Smith and John Cedarburg. Clint Montgomery and coaches run the day to day operations. Our coaching staff consists primarily of High School Coaches who have an interest in assisting baseball players obtain their objectives. All have extensive backgrounds in amateur and professional baseball. SWFL baseball is active in the community by running a fall league, the Bill Skarbek Memorial baseball tournaments in June and September, SWFL Baseball clinics – Collegiate Showcases and travel teams in various age groups.
The Southwest Florida Baseball travel teams have been on the move since 1993 showcasing baseball players for college coaches and professional scouts alike. SWFL features travel teams on 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U, and 18U summer and fall travel circuit and each team will attend 4-6 showcases or tournaments. During the fall the 18U team will play a Junior College schedule with 2 tournaments. SWFL will also play in the Perfect Game WWBA event in Jupiter. The Southwest Florida Baseball program has garnered numerous National, State and World titles over the years and many SWFL players have had the opportunity to play at the highest levels of amateur, collegiate and professional baseball.
College coaches and Professional scouts have noticed Southwest Florida baseball players over the years as hundreds of players have received college scholarships or professional opportunities to play because of the SWFL fall league or travel teams. 72 alumni have had the opportunity to play or are still playing professional baseball. 19 former SWFL players have made “the Show.” Whether they chose the professional route or to go and further their educational/athletic career in college, SWFL Baseball was there to assist.
