SWFL announces 2015 summer rosters

Southwest Florida Baseball announced its rosters on Tuesday, “this is the initial draft of rosters, the Coaches will be looking for players to finalize their roster throughout the spring” said Clint Montgomery – Vice President of SWFL Baseball. “We’ll hold another try-out in May and be looking for players as the spring evolves.” In all, 34 players were selected to the 17U and 16U squads that will play a rigorous schedule with a total of 5-7 tournaments that will include 2 National tournaments. SWFL most recently won the 2014 Perfect Game Florida State Championships in July and went 4-0 in pool play at the PG World Championships in Jupiter in late October. Read more

SWFL Baseball – Tampa – 14U try-outs

On Saturday January 17, 2015, SWFL Baseball will hold try-outs for their 14U team based out of Tampa, FL. Players must be willing to travel for practice and games. Try-outs are open to any and all 14 year old baseball players and any players who have the skill level to compete against the best 14 year olds in the country. “This is a step in the right direction for SWFL Baseball” said John Cedarburg, a founding member of the SWFL organization. “Mickey Rivera is a trusted baseball man who knows how to get the most out of talented young men and will be a great addition to the SWFL family.” Read more

SWFL partners with Pro’s Select for summer try-outs

Southwest Florida Baseball will hold their summer try-outs during the Pro’s Select Collegiate Clinic January 10-11, 2015 at the Player Development Complex in Fort Myers.

The Clinic will feature 16 College Coaches and will have an instructional element to the 2 day event. “The Coaches will be there to assist and evaluate the players, it’s a working environment for all of the Coaches.” said SWFL Co-founder and Colorado Rockies Area supervisor John Cedarburg. “It allows the Coaches to interact and get to know the players and to figure out if they want to possibly recruit the player” Read more

Dominic Blanco signs with Seattle Mariners

Gulf Coast HS and SWFL catcher/1B signed with the Seattle mariners and reported to their Arizona League rookie team. Dominic was an early signee for Bethune Cookman but chose to start his pro career. Dominic has been hitting at a torrid pace over his last 10 games going 7 for 15. On the season he is hitting .333 with a 2B and a 3B in 16 games. Congrats to Dom on his signing and his great start in professional baseball.
